GPS art of cherry blossoms at Koukawa-dera Temple, one of the most famous cherry blossom viewing spots in Wakayama Prefecture.
Koukawa-ji Temple is the third of the 33 sacred places in the western part of Japan, located in Kinokawa City, Wakayama Prefecture, and its vast grounds are decorated with approximately 300 cherry trees in spring. The weeping cherry trees in front of the main hall in particular attract visitors with their gracefully spreading branches. Someiyoshino cherry trees and yamazakura cherry trees are also in full bloom, and the harmony between the historic temple and the cherry blossoms is a must-see. At night, the temple is illuminated, creating a fantastic atmosphere.
