Terrestrial painting of carp streamers on the ground in the famous Jumbo carp streamer spot🎏
The history of the carp streamer industry in Kazo started at the beginning of the Meiji era (1868-1912) as a sideline for lantern and umbrella craftsmen.
The reason why it became famous was the Great Kanto Earthquake. Due to the earthquake, the number of the same industry in the city center decreased drastically, and the carp streamers in Kazo, which were located in the suburbs, attracted attention.
The history of jumbo carp streamers began in 1988, in the late Showa era. It is 100 meters long and weighs 330 kilograms, so it is fished up by a huge crane.
As an aside…. At the venue, Tonegawa Kasenjiki Ryokuchi Park, the path is shaped like a carp streamer. It would be great if you could draw one too!🎏✨
