Osaka Castle, built in the Azuchi-Momoyama period and reconstructed in the Edo period, continues to be the center of the city. This work is to draw an equilateral circle with a radius of 3.14 km around the castle tower.
Because it is one of the largest cities in western Japan, most of the course is made up of square-shaped intersecting areas. There are a lot of bends, but that makes the completed course a very good reproduction of a circle. I’m sure it would be a lot of fun for a novice walker to undertake this as an alternative to orienteering!
