GPS art of a dragon drawn at Kyoto’s popular Hatsumode spot🐉✨
This GPS art course allows visitors to draw the Chinese character for the Chinese zodiac animal “dragon (龍)” in the vicinity of Takio Shrine, a Hatsumode (New Year’s visit) spot in Kyoto that is associated with dragons.
At Takio Shrine in Kyoto, there is an 8-meter-long carved wooden dragon on the ceiling of the worship hall. The dragon is so powerful that it is rumored to go to the river at night to drink water, so a wire fence was added to the ceiling of the hall of worship. It is also known as a power spot for good luck in money and work, as Shimomura Hikoemon, founder of Daimaru (a major department store in Japan), was an avid worshipper here.
Although it is a popular spot for worshippers, it is expected to be very crowded in 2024, the year of the dragon. Please try to visit as a New Year’s visit to avoid the density 🐉✨
