🐎 Kickstart the Year with a Horse! GPS Art Pilgrimage at Morioka Hachimangu 🗻
Start the year on a lucky stride with a unique run & walk at Morioka Hachimangu, drawing the zodiac “Horse” across the historic streets of Morioka!
This approx. 10km GPS art route lets you enjoy both your first shrine visit of the year and a creative city adventure.
Morioka Hachimangu is deeply connected to horses, famous not only for its grand autumn festival featuring traditional horseback archery, but also as the sacred site of Chagu Chagu Umakko, a beloved local festival praying for the health of working horses.
Along the way, visit historic shrines like Sumiyoshi and Tenmangu, explore the lively Morioka Mikoda Morning Market, step back in time at Morioka Machiya Monogatari-kan, see the sake brewery Asabiraki, the solemn 16 stone arhats, the pure Seiryusui spring, and a charming Meiji-era residence.
