🐎 Gallop into the New Year! “Horse” GPS Art Run & Walk Around Kamo Shrine 🗻
Kamo Shrine in Ōmihachiman, Shiga, is celebrated as Japan’s oldest “horse-racing sanctuary,” established in the 8th century with the nation’s first government-run pasture. The annual Kamo Festival features the ancient ritual race Ashibuse no Sōme, preserving centuries of equestrian tradition.
The 6km route circles the serene Kamo area, tracing quiet village paths framed by the Hira mountain range and pastoral rice fields — a perfect setting to draw a graceful horse with your GPS.
