Snail-Shaped GPS Art at Yakushiike Park — A Place to Savor the Beauty of All Four Seasons in Machida🐌
This approximately 6-kilometer GPS art course traces the shape of a “snail” as you stroll through the lush, green area of Yakushiike Park and its surroundings. Along the way, you can admire the hydrangeas blooming throughout the park and enjoy the vibrant scenery, all while gradually drawing the charming shape of a snail on your GPS map. It’s a soothing course where you can experience both the beauty of hydrangeas glistening with rain and the unique enjoyment of GPS art.
Located in Machida City, Tokyo, Yakushiike Park is beloved as a destination where visitors can appreciate seasonal landscapes throughout the year. Opened in 1976, the park features picturesque scenery centered around its pond and has been selected as one of the “New Tokyo 100 Views.” It is renowned for seasonal flowers such as plum blossoms, cherry blossoms, irises, and autumn foliage. In particular, during the rainy season, over 1,400 hydrangea plants bloom in full glory, delighting visitors with their vibrant colors.
The park also houses an old folk house garden, where Edo-period buildings have been relocated and restored, allowing visitors to enjoy a stroll filled with a sense of history and culture. Around the Yakushidō Hall and Yakushiike Pond, charming wooden walkways and paths are beautifully harmonized with the quietly blooming hydrangeas, creating a serene and picturesque setting.
