GPS art of a snail drawing on the “name of the place with the name of rain”🐌
As the rainy season has started this year, the GPS art course series draws snails on the names of places with the word “rain (雨)”.
Amaike (雨池) is about 4 km west of JR Nagaoka Station, surrounded by National Route 8 and the Kanetsu Expressway. The existence of Amaike village village was confirmed in the Edo period (1603-1867), and since the village cultivated land without irrigation water, it took more than 20 years of lawsuits to draw in water for irrigation.
The area is also home to the Niigata Prefectural Museum of Modern Art and the Nagaoka Fireworks Museum, and is conveniently accessible by car due to its proximity to the expressway. We hope you will enjoy sightseeing in Nagaoka while visiting GPS art🐌🐌🐌
