This course draws cherry blossoms GPS art on Shiroishi Castle, one of Miyagi Prefecture’s most famous cherry blossom viewing spots.
The castle was once a strategic point in the southern part of the Sendai domain. The castle was abandoned in the Meiji era (1868-1912), but now the castle tower and gate have been restored and about 230 Someiyoshino cherry trees have been planted. During the cherry blossom season, the castle is illuminated and visitors can enjoy viewing the cherry blossoms at night. The contrast between the illuminated castle tower and the cherry blossoms is a sight to behold. Usually, the best time to see the cherry blossoms is in mid-April, but in 2023, the year of the post, they have started blooming ahead of schedule.
It is becoming a trend that the action restrictions are being lifted. I think it’s perfect for Miyagi sightseeing 🌸
