🌸 Blooms in the Racing City: A 9km Sakura Course in Suzuka Sakurajima 🌸
Suzuka City, Mie Prefecture, is worldwide famous as a mecca for motorsports, but it also hides a serene, floral side. This 9km GPS art course takes you through Sakurajima-cho, a district whose name literally means “Cherry Blossom Island Town.” This name reflects the area’s historical connection to these iconic flowers and the community’s wish for the town to bloom beautifully as it developed.
The heart of the route is Ishigakiike Park, one of the premier cherry blossom spots in the city. Surrounding the large pond are approximately 1,000 Somei-Yoshino trees, creating a breathtaking pink reflection on the water’s surface during peak season. Nearby, the AGF Suzuka Athletic Stadium pulses with energy from local athletes, blending Suzuka’s sporting spirit with the gentle beauty of spring.
Your journey weaves through the residential heart of the city, passing Sakurajima Park and Higashiyama Park, and looping near Tamagaki Station. Geographically, this part of the Ise Plain is remarkably flat, providing a smooth and accessible “canvas” for runners and walkers. As you follow the lines to complete the delicate petals, you will feel the harmony between the city’s industrial vitality and its natural heritage.
Completing this 9km circuit doesn’t just give you a digital masterpiece; it allows you to experience the “quiet Suzuka” away from the racing circuit’s roar. Whether you are a local or a visitor, following this trail is a poetic way to celebrate the season. Lace up your shoes and let your own creativity bloom in the town named after the flower!
