GPS art of the place name “Toshima” drawn in Toshima Ward✨
This is a series of GPS art courses that draw the place name “Toshima” in Toshima Ward, Tokyo.
Toshima Ward was created in 1932 through the merger of Sugamo-cho, Nishi-Sugamo-cho, Nagasaki-cho, and Takada-cho. The name of the ward derives from the name of a place in Kita-Toshima County to which the four towns on the left belonged, but the place name “Toshima” had already appeared in an audit report in 646.
This course is centered on Ikebukuro Station and takes visitors around the urban area in front of the station on the east and west sides. It encompasses Ikebukuro culture such as Sunshine City and the ward office to the east, and the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Space and Chinatown to the west. We believe that Tokyo residents can enjoy this new form of sightseeing, and we encourage you to give it a try.
