An 11km Journey Through History and Nature! GPS Art Spelling “Fuchu”✨
Fuchu City, located in the heart of Tokyo’s Tama region, has long flourished as the seat of Musashi Province in ancient times. Today, it remains a city where history, culture, and nature coexist in harmony. This 11km GPS art course allows you to trace the city’s name, “府中 (Fuchu),” with your own footsteps.
The journey begins near Fuchu City Hall and leads you through the bustling areas around Fuchu Station and Higashi-Fuchu Station. Along the way, you’ll pass by highlights such as Tokyo Racecourse—one of Japan’s premier horse-racing venues—and Okunitama Shrine, a sacred site with over 1,900 years of history, revered as the head shrine of Musashi Province.
The course also guides you to Fuchu Forest Park, a lush oasis with expansive lawns, an art museum, and seasonal flowers. Here, you can take a short break surrounded by greenery before continuing your route.
Geographically, Fuchu lies at the heart of the Musashino Plateau, near the Tama River, which historically made it a vital hub of transportation and governance. Even today, the city retains its balance of vibrant urban life and rich natural landscapes, adorned with cherry blossoms in spring and vivid foliage in autumn.
With a comfortable distance of 11km, this course is ideal for both walking and jogging. As you draw the characters for “Fuchu” across the city map, you’ll discover the charm of this historic town in a uniquely personal way—a journey that connects the past and present through movement.
