GPS art of a dragon drawn at one of Tokyo’s most popular Hatsumode spot🐉✨
This GPS art course allows visitors to draw the Chinese character for “dragon (龍),” the animal of the Chinese zodiac, around Tanashi Shrine, a Hatsumode (New Year’s visit) spot in Tokyo that has a connection with dragons.
Tanashi Shrine in Nishitokyo City enshrines five dragon deities based on the philosophy of the five elements. The five dragon deities are the Golden Dragon in the center of the main shrine, the Blue Dragon in the east, the Red Dragon in the south, the White Dragon in the west, and the Black Dragon in the north. The five dragon deities are blessed with the power to ward off all kinds of misfortune and to guide people in the right direction. There is no correct order to visit the shrine. You can visit the temple freely. It is not necessary to visit the Five Dragons in the order of right or left to receive benefits.
Since 2024 is the Year of the Dragon, Tanashi Shrine may become a popular Hatsumode spot. Please try it as a sightseeing tour to avoid the density 🐉✨
