“HOT” GPS Art Surrounded by the History and Greenery of Atsuta Shrine✨
This is a 6km GPS art course where you can draw the word “HOT” while walking around Atsuta Shrine and the surrounding area near Atsuta Station in Nagoya’s Atsuta Ward. Designed for the hot season, the route is relatively short and allows you to enjoy the shrine’s lush greenery along with the urban landscape.
Atsuta Shrine is one of Japan’s most significant Shinto shrines, enshrining the sacred sword Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi. With a history spanning over 1,900 years, it has long been affectionately called “Atsuta-san,” attracting countless worshippers. The shrine grounds are lined with centuries-old camphor trees, creating a tranquil atmosphere that feels worlds apart from the bustling city. During the rainy and summer seasons, the surrounding greenery is especially vivid, offering a refreshing walking experience.
The area also features historical sites along the old Tokaido Road, as well as renowned restaurants serving Nagoya’s famous dish, hitsumabushi, making it an appealing spot for both history and gourmet enthusiasts. With easy access from Atsuta Station and Jingu-mae Station, this walking course is perfect for combining sightseeing with a unique summer activity—completing your own “HOT” art while experiencing history and nature.
