GPS art of the place name “Shinjuku” drawn in Shinjuku Ward✨
This is a series of GPS art courses that draw the place name “Shinjuku” in Shinjuku Ward, Tokyo.
Shinjuku-ward was created in 1947 through the merger of Yotsuya-ward, Ushigome-ward, and Yodobashi-ward. The name “Shinjuku” was given to the area in the Edo period (1603-1867), meaning a new (新) post station (宿) on the Koshu-kaido highway. At the time of the creation of Shinjuku City, in addition to its historical origin, Shinjuku Gyoen and Shinjuku Station were nationally famous, and were adopted as the name of the district.
This course is a tour of downtown Shinjuku. Kabukicho, Golden Gai, Korea Town in Shin-Okubo, and so on. Since many of the streets are at night, we recommend that you try it during the daytime. Please try it as an exploration of Shinjuku!
