GPS art of a dragon drawn at one of Yamaguchi’s most popular Hatsumode spot🐉✨
This GPS art course allows visitors to draw the Chinese character for the Chinese zodiac animal “dragon (龍)” around Ryufukuji Temple, a spot in Yamaguchi Prefecture that has a connection with dragons.
Ryufukuji Temple in Yamaguchi City was built in 1206 as a family temple of Ouchi Yoshitaka. It was built by Takamoto Mori on the site of the former residence of the Ouchi clan, and its principal deity is Yakushi Nyorai. It was built by Zenji Bungo Keiko in the Bunmei era (around 1470), and was moved to its current location in the 3rd year of Meiji era (1868). It was destroyed by fire during the Meiji period (1868-1912) and rebuilt.
Since 2024 is the Year of the Dragon, Ryufukuji Temple may become a popular first visit to the temple. Please try it as a sightseeing tour to avoid the density 🐉✨
