Draw “HOT” GPS Art in Tokushima – A 5km Course Through One of Shikoku’s Hottest Cities✨
Tokushima City, known for recording some of the highest temperatures in Shikoku, now offers a 5km GPS art course that lets you draw the word “HOT” while walking through its vibrant downtown. The route is nestled between Tokushima Station’s south side and the serene Shinmachi River, making it ideal for a short yet rich urban hike during the scorching summer.
Starting from the south exit of Tokushima Station, the path leads you through key city spots including Tokushima City Hall, the Shinmachi shopping arcade, and the Awa Odori Kaikan. This area bursts with cultural character, especially in summer when the city’s famous Awa Odori Festival fills the streets with dance and music. Even outside festival season, remnants of this cultural heritage linger throughout the townscape.
The Shinmachi River runs gracefully through the city, flanked by well-maintained promenades that are perfect for a cooling stroll. After your walk, you can enjoy local delicacies like Tokushima ramen or sudachi-infused dishes—perfect for refreshing after the heat.
This short but meaningful route offers a playful way to embrace Tokushima’s intense summer climate. Create your own “HOT” footprint and enjoy a unique perspective on one of Shikoku’s most spirited cities through GPS art.
