🎃 Perfect for Halloween! Utsunomiya “Ghost” GPS Art 👻
A Halloween-themed GPS art course has arrived in the heart of Utsunomiya City! Starting at the west side of JR Utsunomiya Station, the 10km route follows the new Light Rail line and passes through familiar community spots such as Imaizumi Central Park, Utsunomiya City East Library, and the Maronie Plaza. As you walk or run along the course, a cute “ghost” will appear on your GPS map, adding a festive Halloween touch to your outing.
Utsunomiya is best known as the “City of Gyoza,” but its significance goes far beyond its culinary fame. Historically, it has thrived as a key transportation hub of northern Kanto. The city center offers a vibrant blend of modern urban landscapes and lush green parks, balancing lively city life with spaces of relaxation. During the Edo period, Utsunomiya flourished as a castle town and an important post town along the Nikko Kaido, a history that still echoes in parts of the city today.
Culturally, Utsunomiya is also celebrated as a city of music and nightlife, famous for its jazz scene and as “the city of cocktails.” This course lets participants not only experience the city’s lively culture and rich history but also enjoy the playful spirit of Halloween through GPS art. It’s an ideal activity for seasonal walks, runs, or even as part of a sightseeing adventure in Utsunomiya.
