“HOT” GPS Art in the Western District of Takasaki Station – through the Gateway to Joshu✨
This 4km “HOT” GPS art course weaves through the western side of Takasaki Station in Gunma Prefecture. Designed with the summer heat in mind, the word “HOT” is boldly drawn across the city’s central district—turning the seasonal warmth into a vibrant artistic statement. As Gunma’s largest city, Takasaki offers a harmonious blend of urban convenience, culture, and nature. With a relatively short route, it’s a refreshing and manageable walk even on hot summer days.
Takasaki Station serves as a major transportation hub, connecting the Joetsu and Hokuriku Shinkansen lines with several conventional railways. The west exit area is home to business hotels, shopping centers, and the Takasaki City Hall. In recent years, the district has undergone redevelopment, including the construction of a new arena and urban revitalization projects. Known as a “City of Music,” public art installations and musical monuments throughout the area enrich the cityscape with cultural charm.
Within walking distance of the station are historical and spiritual landmarks such as the Takasaki Castle Ruins and the iconic Takasaki Kannon statue, offering visitors both scenic and cultural experiences.
