🌸 Sakura course through World Heritage Harajo Castle and history 🌸
Immerse yourself in history and nature by creating a 4km Sakura GPS art in the Minami-Arima district of Minamishimabara, Nagasaki. This course centers on the Harajo Castle Ruins, a UNESCO World Heritage site known as the final battlefield of the Shimabara-Amakusa Rebellion. Surrounded on three sides by the Ariake Sea, the site offers a serene atmosphere where the ocean breeze carries stories of the Arima clan and hidden Christians.
The highlight of the journey is the main ward of Harajo Castle, a famous spot for cherry blossoms that attracts many visitors each spring. As you draw the petals of your art, you will pass through the Hara Castle Tamachi Gate Ruins, once a vital entry point to the fortress. Information and rest stops are available at the Haranojo Oasis Center, ensuring a comfortable experience for all participants.
A unique feature of this course is crossing the Minamishimabara City Bicycle and Pedestrian Path. This scenic trail was built on the former site of the Shimabara Railway South Line, allowing you to walk through the town’s modern transition while feeling the area’s railway heritage. Passing the Minamishimbabara City Hall Minamiarima Branch, you will feel the warm, quiet rhythm of local life.
At just 4km, this course is ideal for a leisurely walk or a light run. Whether you are a history enthusiast or simply looking for a beautiful coastal route, drawing a cherry blossom here connects you to Nagasaki’s profound heritage. Let your creativity bloom on this sacred ground where history and spring blossoms unite.
