Walk Through the Heat of Higashine! Draw “HOT” GPS Art Along the Shiramizu River✨
On July 19, 2025, Higashine City in Yamagata Prefecture recorded the nation’s highest temperature of 37.5℃, making it a true symbol of midsummer heat. To commemorate this scorching day, we present a special GPS art course that draws the word “HOT.” At only about 4km in length, it’s designed for walkers to enjoy even in the blazing summer sun.
The course extends southeast from Higashine Station, tracing paths along the Shiramizu River in an east–west direction. While it doesn’t pass through the city’s shopping streets or orchards, the riverside route offers a refreshing sense of openness and the occasional breeze off the water. Under the brilliant sunshine, the “HOT” letters that emerge on your GPS map perfectly capture the fiery spirit of the day.
Higashine is also famous for its cherries and hot springs, making it a destination rich in both nature and culture. Easily accessible from the station, this short course is an ideal way to combine the fun of GPS art with the unique experience of walking through Japan’s summer heat.
