Snail-Shaped GPS Art around Hasuda Toshogu Shrine🐌
This 6km GPS art route traces the shape of a snail through the area surrounding Hasuda Toshogu Shrine, located in Hasuda City, Saitama Prefecture. At the heart of the course is Hasuda Toshogu, a historic Shinto shrine dedicated to Tokugawa Ieyasu, said to have been established in the early Edo period. Its peaceful grounds, lined with a charming path, come alive in early summer with the bloom of hydrangeas, creating a tranquil and colorful setting.
Hasuda has long flourished as a post town along the historic Nikko Kaido (Nikko Highway), and even today, it retains a harmonious blend of nature and history. The GPS art course weaves through the city and its surrounding rural areas, primarily using quiet, low-traffic roads ideal for walking. As you follow the route, you’ll encounter local landmarks and cultural sites that reflect the deep heritage of the region.
