GPS art of a Seahorse (dragon) drawn at Niigata Prefecture’s popular Hatsumode spot🐉✨
This GPS art course allows visitors to draw a seahorse (baby dragon), the animal of the Chinese zodiac, in the vicinity of Ryukokuji Temple, a spot in Niigata Prefecture with a connection to dragons.
Located at the foot of Mt. Hakkaisan in Minamiuonuma City, Ryukokuji Temple is home to a statue of the Kannon (Goddess of Mercy) donated by Hawaii and a statue of the eleven-faced Kannon (Goddess of Mercy). In the main hall, there is an openwork balustrade by Ishikawa Uncho, a master sculptor active from the end of the Edo period to the Meiji era (1868-1912), with baku (tapir), kylin (qilin), and kara shishi (Chinese lion), which express a dynamic view of the world. In addition, many of his works have been inherited in the surrounding area.
Since 2024 is the Year of the Dragon, Ryugoku-ji Temple may become a popular spot. Please try it as a sightseeing tour to avoid the density 🐉✨
