GPS art of a dragon drawn at one of Ibaraki’s most popular Hatsumode spot🐉✨
This GPS art course allows visitors to draw the Chinese character for the Chinese zodiac animal “dragon (龍)” around Daishoin Temple, a Hatsumode (New Year’s visit) spot in Ibaraki that is associated with dragons.
At Daishoin, located in the southern part of Fushigi, Sakaimachi, there is a ceiling painting of a dragon by Masataka Kano. This dragon is said to have surprised the villagers by slipping out of the ceiling painting in the past. Taishoin also houses a standing wooden statue of Akadoji, designated as a National Important Cultural Property, and a seated wooden statue of Shakyamuni Buddha, designated as a Prefectural Cultural Property.
Since 2024 is the Year of the Dragon, Daisho-in Temple may become a popular Hatsumode spot. Please try it as a sightseeing tour to avoid the density 🐉✨
