GPS art of the place name “Kuki” drawn in Kuki City✨
This is a series of GPS art courses that draw the place name “Kuki” in Kuki City, Saitama.
There are several theories as to the origin of the name Kuki. The first theory is that it is a place name meaning a place for collecting fuelwood, bushes, etc.; the second is that it was a small elevated place such as a mountain, an oka, or a natural levee; and the third is that it is a guess word for Kuki (firewood mountain).
The Kuki clan appeared in the Edo period, and the town of Kuki was established in 1889. After several mergers, the town became Kuki City in 1971. Furthermore, Kuki City, Washinomiya Town, Kurihashi Town, and Shobu Town merged in 2010 to form the current Kuki City.
Kuki is a transfer station for the JR Utsunomiya Line and the Tobu Isesaki Line, and there is also an expressway junction located here.
