🐎 Horse GPS Art Around WINS Tachikawa 🗻

Kick off the New Year with an engaging and creative walk through Tachikawa on this 12km GPS art course that traces the shape of a horse—a fitting tribute to the zodiac animal. The journey begins at WINS Tachikawa, a Japan Racing Association (JRA) off-track betting facility conveniently located within walking distance of JR Tachikawa Station’s south exit. With its two-building complex including the comfortable “Excel Floor” in Building B, WINS Tachikawa is known as both a racing hub and a local landmark.

From there, your course winds through the vibrant streets of Tachikawa, first heading toward Ramen Square, a popular destination for local and visitor favorite noodle shops. This area’s lively atmosphere sets the tone as you begin your creative GPS art journey. Continue onward to the Tachikawa Children Future Center, a community space where families and children gather, and then to Tamashin RISURU Hall, a cultural venue hosting concerts and events. These stops blend urban energy with cultural interest as the horse shape starts to emerge on your GPS map.

Midway through the course, enjoy a change of pace as you enter the Yagawa Nature Conservation Area, a green haven brimming with trees and birdlife. Walking through this natural landscape brings a refreshing contrast to the urban environment and provides a peaceful break to reflect and recharge.

On the return leg, you’ll pass near Tachikawa Station and then make your way to Yagawa Benzaiten Shrine, a serene place perfect for New Year prayers and reflection. Visiting a shrine during this season adds spiritual meaning to your walk and is a cherished tradition in Japanese culture.

Tachikawa itself sits on a broad terrace between the Tama River and Tamagawa Aqueduct, with a history of postwar growth and modern urban development. Its pedestrian-friendly streets, diverse shopping and dining options, and cultural facilities make it an ideal area for walking and GPS art exploration.

Whether you’re walking solo, with friends, or with family, this 12km course around WINS Tachikawa offers a meaningful and memorable way to celebrate the Year of the Horse while discovering the charms of western Tokyo.
