GPS art of a snake, drawn at a Hatsumode spot in Tokushima🐍✨
This GPS art course takes visitors to the area around Shisho Shrine, a famous Hatsumode (New Year’s visit) spot in Tokushima, where you can draw a snake, the animal of the Chinese zodiac.
Shisho Shrine in Tokushima City, Tokushima Prefecture, enshrines the Dragon Snake God, the sacred treasure of Izumo Taisha Shrine. 1788, Haruaki Hachisuka, lord of the Tokushima domain, dedicated the Dragon Snake God to the shrine, which was presented by Izumo. In 1790, Mori Jingobei, a member of the Awa Suigun (navy), dedicated another dragon serpent deity. One is said to be male and the other female, and it is recorded as “a wonder that a husband and wife are united. This dragon serpent deity is considered a symbol of conjugal harmony and prosperity.
In 2025, Shisho Shrine may become another popular spot. Please try it during your first visit to the shrine🐍✨
