This GPS art course takes visitors to the area around Iwasaki Shrine, a famous Hatsumode (New Year’s visit) spot in Matsuyama, where you can draw a snake, the animal of the Chinese zodiac.
Iwasaki Shrine in Matsuyama City, Ehime Prefecture, is said to be dedicated to a snake and is popularly known as “Mi-San” by the local people. The shrine was built about 800 years ago, and its deity, Urato Myojin Ochi no Mikoto, is said to be the founder of the Kono clan that ruled Iyo Province in the Middle Ages. Kosenomikoto is also said to be a “white snake.
