Located in the heart of Ōita City, Ōita Castle Ruins Park is a scenic urban park built on the site of the historic Funai Castle. By walking a 3km route within the park, you can create a “C”-shaped GPS art that connects both movement and meaning. The park preserves much of the original castle’s features, including stone walls and moats, offering a peaceful route steeped in history.
Originally constructed after the Battle of Sekigahara during the Edo period, Ōita Castle played a central role in the development of the surrounding castle town. Today, the beautifully restored moats and stone walls, combined with seasonal cherry blossoms, make it a cherished destination for both locals and visitors.
