🎃 A Halloween Stroll with Spirits! GPS Art “Ghost” Course in Kumamoto 👻
Celebrate Halloween in literary style with a GPS art walk through the cultural heart of Kumamoto! Starting from Fujisakigu-mae Station, this 12km route guides you through landmarks such as Kumamoto Castle, Kumamoto City Hall, and the vibrant downtown area, drawing a charming ghost shape along the way.
The course is steeped in literary and historical ambiance. Visit the former residence of Lafcadio Hearn — known for his ghostly tales in Kwaidan — and the home of fellow literary giant Natsume Soseki. With its blend of mystery and nostalgia, this route perfectly suits the Halloween season.
As you trace your steps, you’ll pass sacred sites like Kato Shrine and Fujisakigu, alongside modern attractions such as the Contemporary Art Museum Kumamoto and Kumamoto Castle Hall. The contrast of old and new reveals the city’s rich cultural layers. The walk ends near Shirakawa Park and Tsuruya Department Store, where urban life meets historical charm.
By the time you complete the course, a delightful ghost will appear on your map — as if the spirits of Kumamoto’s literary past are smiling upon you. A perfect blend of art, culture, and Halloween fun awaits!
