GPS art of a snake, drawn at a Hatsumode spot in Osaka🐍✨
This GPS art course takes visitors to the area around Himejima Shrine, a famous Hatsumode (New Year’s visit) spot in Osaka, where you can draw a snake, the animal of the Chinese zodiac.
On the grounds of Himejima Shrine in Nishiyodogawa Ward, Osaka City, stands a Kusu Shrine dedicated to a snake. It is said that a white snake lived on the sacred tree behind the Kusu-sha. The sacred tree was said to be 900 years old, but was destroyed by fire during the Osaka Air Raid in 1945. After that, three camphor trees (kusu) were planted around the shrine as successor trees, and now the shrine is cherished by the local community as a place to pray for good luck in marriage.
In 2025, Himejima Shrine may become another popular spot. Please try it during your first visit to the shrine🐍✨
