GPS Art of a Snail in Blooming Hydrangea Season🐌
Located in Nerima Ward, Tokyo, Shakujii Park is a serene oasis that retains the natural landscape of the Musashino Plateau. By walking through the park and its surrounding neighborhood, you can draw a charming snail-shaped GPS art route approximately 8 kilometers in length—perfect for the rainy season.
Shakujii Park is centered around Shakujii Pond and Sanpōji Pond, two of the renowned Musashino spring-fed ponds. The park offers wetlands, woodlands, and well-maintained paths, making it ideal for nature observation throughout the year. In early summer, especially during Japan’s rainy season, hydrangeas bloom gracefully around the park, adding a splash of color to the tranquil waterside scenery.
The area is also home to the historic Sanpōji Temple and neighborhoods that reflect the traditional Musashino atmosphere. A stroll along the pond while admiring blooming hydrangeas and sketching a snail through GPS art invites a delightful blend of nature, creativity, and calm.
Why not take a leisurely walk under the early summer skies, enjoy the lush greenery of Shakujii, and rediscover the joy of artful walking?
