Snail GPS Art in a Town of Irises and Hydrangeas🐌
In Katsushika City, Tokyo, you can enjoy a 4km walking course that traces the shape of a “snail” as GPS art around the Horikiri Shobuen (Horikiri Iris Garden) area. This district is beloved as a picturesque walking destination, particularly in early summer when vibrant seasonal flowers bloom. In June, when irises and hydrangeas are in full glory, the area attracts many visitors.
Horikiri Shobuen is a historic flower garden dating back to the Edo period, featuring over 200 varieties and 6,000 individual iris plants. The garden is especially lively during the annual “Horikiri Iris Festival.” Nearby, the area is embraced by rivers such as the Edogawa and Ayasegawa, offering a nostalgic downtown Tokyo atmosphere.
In addition, hydrangeas line many paths and parks in the surrounding neighborhood, adding rich color and charm to the rainy season. As you stroll through this tranquil and floral district, why not create your own whimsical GPS “snail” artwork, celebrating both the beauty of nature and the joy of exploration?
