🐦 Through Coastal Parklands and Scenic Ferris Wheel Views: A 2km Ptarmigan Walk 🐦
Kasai Rinkai Park, located at the southern tip of Edogawa Ward in Tokyo, sits along the shores of Tokyo Bay between the mouths of the Arakawa and Kyu-Edo Rivers. Originally an extensive tidal flat, the area was revitalized into a vast public park in 1989 to restore coastal nature and provide an urban green retreat. Offering sweeping views of Mount Fuji and the Boso Peninsula across the bay, the park features lush lawns, bird sanctuaries, and iconic leisure attractions.
This gentle 2km GPS art course invites you to experience a storied coastal landscape, taking a relaxed loop entirely inside the park grounds to sketch a Ptarmigan on your digital map.
The journey immerses you in a refreshing seaside atmosphere, starting near the majestic Diamond and Flower Ferris Wheel—one of Japan’s largest—and the wide open green lawns of Central Plaza. Wandering along smooth, car-free walking trails, you will encounter seasonal blooms at the Flower and Light Movement Kasai Rinkai Park x Daffodil Flower Area, alongside the lively recreational grounds of the Barbecue Square. The route also captures glimpses of modern sporting legacy near the adjacent Canoe Slalom Centre, built for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
Featuring short, completely flat walking paths cooled by gentle sea breezes, this accessible 2km route offers an ideal family walk or light jog. As the digital silhouette completes on your map, you are left with a memorable impression of this soothing waterfront oasis.
