Koganei City and its surroundings in Tokyo, nestled on the lush Musashino Terrace, carry a rich history of Edo-period agricultural development sparked by the excavation of the Tamagawa Aqueduct. Its centerpiece, Koganei Park, is one of Tokyo’s largest metropolitan parks, serving as a verdant oasis filled with historic memories of seasonal cherry blossoms. This 8km GPS art course invites you to sketch a Ptarmigan, starting from the historic Suzuki Road and weaving through the park’s majestic woods toward Hana-Koganei.
The cultural journey leads you into Koganei Park, guiding you past the architectural wonders of the Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum and the nostalgic trains at the Koganei Park Steam Locomotive Exhibition Center. After passing the active Koganei City General Gymnasium, the trail heads north near the scenic campus of Kaetsu University toward Hana-Koganei Station. The route sits conveniently close to the relaxing hot springs of the King of the Baths – Koganei, before finishing along Koganei Road.
