🐦 Nature and Ghibli Magic: A 10km Ptarmigan Art in Musashino 🐦
Musashino City, Tokyo, is home to the lush Inokashira Park, a historic oasis that has served as a vital water source for the capital since the Edo period. This 10km GPS art course invites you to sketch a Ptarmigan (Raicho), starting from the Inokashira Park Zoo. This zoo is not only a local favorite but also a key facility for the conservation and breeding of the Japanese Ptarmigan, making it the perfect starting point for this artistic tribute.
The journey circles the scenic Inokashira Pond, passing the spiritual Inokashira Benzaiten temple. The route then leads you through the whimsical outskirts of the Ghibli Museum and the sprawling greenery of Inokashira Park Daini Park. Navigating these paths offers a delightful mix of Musashino’s ancient woodland atmosphere and the vibrant, subcultural energy of the Kichijoji Station area. Geographically, the terrain follows the gentle undulations of the Musashino Plateau, providing a refreshing breeze even in the heart of the city.
The Ptarmigan is an alpine bird revered as a “Messenger of the Gods.” While they usually inhabit high peaks above 2,400 meters, drawing their silhouette through these lowland forests connects the spirit of the mountains to the urban sanctuary. This 10km circuit is a creative way to appreciate the biodiversity efforts of the zoo while enjoying Tokyo’s most beloved park. By the time your digital Ptarmigan blooms on your screen, you will have experienced the harmonious blend of history, animation culture, and nature that defines Musashino.
