🐦 Breezes of Musashino: A 18km Ptarmigan GPS Art Journey Through Hamura 🐦
Hamura City, located on the edge of the Musashino Plateau in western Tokyo, is a place where historical waterworks and modern industry meet. This 18km GPS art course invites you to sketch a Ptarmigan (Raicho), starting from the family-friendly Hinotonton Zoo (Hamura Zoo). The route spans across Hamura and Mizuho Town, offering a grand tour of suburban Tokyo’s verdant landscapes.
Beginning near Hamura Station and the Hamura City Office, the trail connects several spacious recreational hubs like S&D Sports Park Fujimi and Primo Park Musashino. As you trace the silhouette of the bird, you will visit the Mizuho Eco Park, Matsubara Central Park, and the nostalgic Nitto Park (Edo-kaido Park). The landscape reflects the area’s growth, from the vast manufacturing site of Toyota Motor Hamura to the peaceful residential blocks of Kamidaira Danchi. Geographically, the terrain follows the gentle undulations of the plateau, providing a refreshing breeze for long-distance runners and walkers.
The Ptarmigan is a sacred alpine bird, a relic of the Ice Age that symbolizes the purity of the mountains. Drawing this “Messenger of the Gods” in the quiet, green expanses of Hamura is a poetic tribute to nature. This 18km journey is a true endurance feat, equivalent to a mountain trek in terms of accomplishment. By the time the digital Ptarmigan takes flight on your smartphone screen, you will have connected the threads of Hamura’s industrial strength and its tranquil parklands. Lace up your shoes and embark on this artistic odyssey through the heart of Musashino!
