Draw “HOT” in Hachioji! A 4km GPS Art Course Born from Record-Breaking Heat✨
On August 5, 2025, Hachioji set a new record with a scorching 40.3°C, making headlines as one of Japan’s hottest cities. Around Hachioji City Hall and the local meteorological observatory, a short 4km GPS art walking course lets you draw the word “HOT” right on the map!
The course begins in front of City Hall. As you walk through streets that once flourished as a castle town, weaving past shopping arcades and nostalgic alleyways, the letters “H-O-T” gradually appear on your GPS. Hachioji is also famed for its seasonal beauty—cherry blossoms in spring and brilliant foliage in autumn—while its central location along the JR Chuo Line makes it easily accessible.
Historically, Hachioji was home to samurai in the late Edo period, and in modern times it has flourished as a university town with a lively student culture and unique local cafés.
This playful GPS art course turns extreme summer heat into a memorable adventure. Designed to be short and refreshing, it’s perfect for a hot day when long walks are a challenge. Come and experience the “heat” of Hachioji by drawing it into the city itself!
