“C” GPS Art Drawn Around a Pond Echoing the Legacy of Shakujii Castle✨
International cooperation by GPS art of “C” onto Tokyo! From March 8 (Saturday) to May 31 (Saturday), 2025, a new project of “Walk in Her Shoes 2025”, “Let’s Walk and Draw “C” on the Earth! Let’s start GPS art!
Walk in Her Shoes 2025″ is an international cooperation program to raise awareness about global water issues and the current situation of women and girls in developing countries by simply walking at a time and place of your choice. Let’s draw the “C” of CARE with GPS art and send it to the world!
GPS art on Shakujii Pond in Nerima-ward, Tokyo. Shakujii Pond is a waterfront space located in the center of Shakujii Park. It is fed by spring water from the Musashino Plateau and has been closely connected with people’s lives since ancient times. Shakujii Castle was once built in this area, and during the Muromachi period (1336-1573), the area prospered as a stronghold of the castle’s lord, the Toshima clan, against the backdrop of its abundant water resources. Monuments and remains of the castle are scattered around the pond, and visitors can experience the history and culture of the area while strolling around the pond.
This pond, along with Sanpoji Pond, is one of the few natural ponds in Tokyo, and today it forms a precious natural environment with an abundance of waterfowl and aquatic plants. The “C” GPS artwork, which takes advantage of the water’s edge, draws a 4-km course while taking advantage of the pond’s shape, allowing visitors to enjoy walking through a space where nature and history are in harmony.
This year, by walking or running and leaving a trail of the “C” of CARE and posting the saved GPS image on Facebook, X (Twitter), and Instagram with the two hashtags “#Walking for InternationalCooperation2025” and “#GPSArt,” you can donate 100 yen.
We are also developing a Walk in Her Shoes 2025 version of the “Reply Art” developed by the “Hokuriku GPS Art Club”. Please try this one as well!
