Snail-Shaped GPS Art Along the Scenic Path of Wisteria and Hydrangeas🐌
Located in Kazo City, Saitama Prefecture, the “Path of Wisteria and Hydrangeas” is a charming walking route known for its vibrant seasonal blooms from spring through early summer. Situated along the banks of the Tone River, this floral promenade has been carefully maintained by local residents. It features over 300 wisteria trees and approximately 3,000 hydrangea bushes, making it a beloved spot for flower lovers. In June, the hydrangeas reach full bloom, and the harmonious blend of colorful petals and the surrounding rural landscape provides a peaceful and picturesque setting.
This GPS art course makes use of the area surrounding the “Path of Wisteria and Hydrangeas” to draw a 10km-long snail shape. As you walk through fields and floral paths, the combination of nature and art offers a unique experience—one that engages both the body and creativity.
Kazo City is a region deeply rooted in agriculture, with expansive rice paddies and intricate irrigation channels defining its landscape. The coexistence of flowers, water, and greenery in this area creates a perfect stage for expressing the motif of a snail, a creature symbolic of the rainy season.
