Revered as a spiritual and cultural symbol of Koshigaya, Hisaizu Shrine is surrounded by tranquil, forested grounds that offer a peaceful retreat for locals and visitors alike. This course allows participants to trace a graceful spiral, weaving through a blend of urban scenery and lush greenery with the shrine at its heart.
Hisaizu Shrine—pronounced “Hisaizu Jinja”—is believed to have been founded in the Heian period. Its grounds are rich in biodiversity, home to towering zelkova and cedar trees, some of which are designated natural monuments by the prefecture. The shrine is particularly vibrant during spring, when wisteria and azaleas bloom and seasonal festivals attract many worshippers. Known for its blessings of health and household safety, Hisaizu Shrine has been cherished for centuries.
