Snail-Shaped GPS Art around Hasuda Toshogu Shrine🐌
This 6km GPS art route traces the shape of a snail through the area surrounding Hasuda Toshogu Shrine, located in Hasuda City, Saitama Prefecture. At the heart of the course is Hasuda Toshogu, a historic Shinto shrine dedicated to Tokugawa Ieyasu, said to have been established in the early Edo period. Its peaceful grounds, lined with a charming path, come alive in early summer with the bloom of hydrangeas, creating a tranquil and colorful setting.
Hasuda has long flourished as a post town along the historic Nikko Kaido (Nikko Highway), and even today, it retains a harmonious blend of nature and history. The GPS art course weaves through the city and its surrounding rural areas, primarily using quiet, low-traffic roads ideal for walking. As you follow the route, you’ll encounter local landmarks and cultural sites that reflect the deep heritage of the region.
The snail—a symbol of the rainy season—is the perfect motif for a walk that nurtures both body and mind. This GPS art experience offers not only the joy of creative movement but also a moment of reflection, inspired by the rich culture and serene landscape of Hasuda.
