This 14km GPS art course invites you to sketch a Ptarmigan (Raicho), using the scenic expanse of Senba Lake and the lush greenways south of Mito Station as your magnificent canvas.
The journey begins along the refreshing shores of Senba Park and circles near The Museum of Modern Art, Ibaraki. Tracing the bird’s silhouette, the route extends into Sakasagawa Park (Sakasagawa Green Space), a peaceful nature sanctuary celebrated for its pristine natural springs and firefly habitats. The trail then guides you past the historic grounds of Entsuji Temple and through the quiet paths of Ekiminamiheiwa Park, offering a wonderful balance of urban history and refreshing nature.
The Ptarmigan is a sacred alpine bird, an Ice Age relic that thrives on Japan’s highest snowy peaks.
