GPS art of a snake drawn at one of Gunma’s most popular snake spot🐍✨
This GPS art course takes you to the area around Japan Snake Center, a Gunma’s spot associated with snakes, where you can draw a snake, the animal of the Chinese zodiac.
The Japan Snake Center, located in Ota City, Gunma Prefecture, is Japan’s first zoo specializing in snakes, established in 1958. The center displays around 50 species of snakes from Japan and abroad, allowing visitors to observe a diverse range of species. With extensive exhibits and explanations on snake biology, the center also offers demonstrations of venom extraction from venomous snakes, providing valuable insights into the roles and characteristics of snakes. Additionally, the center contributes to the medical field through snake venom research, serving as an important institution for both education and research.
Although it is not a Hatsumode spot, …… it is a spot that cannot be missed when talking about snake attractions. I visited here on New Year’s Day 12 years ago (2013) as a substitute for Hatsumode. The outdoor snakes were hibernating, and the snakes in their cages were asleep and motionless. It was winter, after all.
Since 2025 is the Year of the Snake, the Japan Snake Center may become a popular spot. Please try it instead of a New Year’s visit 🐍✨
