GPS art of demons, drawn in the land of demons✨
Fuku wa uchi! This is a GPS art course where you can draw demons on places named after demons.
This GPS art is drawn in Onishi Town (鬼石町: Fujioka City, Gunma Prefecture). Some say that the name of the place is derived from the Ainu word “oniushi” (a place overgrown with trees), but the exact origin of the name is unknown. The town also has the following folklore.
On the Kamihoko Mountain west of the town, an oni (demon) lived and tormented the inhabitants by dropping stones from the mountain. Kobo Daishi defeated the oni and took away their stone sticks. This is said to be the Sambaishi, a stone from this area.
In addition, a giant stone called “Onishi” is enshrined as the deity at the Onishi Shrine in the area.
