🎃 Draw a Cute Ghost in the “City of Yokai”! Halloween GPS Art in Sakaiminato 👻
Get into the Halloween spirit with this unique GPS art route in Sakaiminato, the city of yokai (Japanese spirits)!
This 12km course begins at Sakaiminato Station, taking you through Babasakicho Station, Kamimichi Station, and local landmarks such as the Yokai Shrine, Mizuki Shigeru Museum, and Gegege no Yokai Paradise—all celebrating the legacy of manga artist Shigeru Mizuki, creator of GeGeGe no Kitaro.
Along the famed Mizuki Shigeru Road, over a hundred bronze statues of yokai line the streets, creating a whimsical yet mysterious atmosphere. As the sun sets, the softly glowing streetlights bring these spirits to life, making the perfect Halloween backdrop.
The route also passes by Sakaiminato City Hall and the Community Exchange Center, offering glimpses of the town’s friendly local culture and beautiful seaside scenery. Complete the course, and a charming “little ghost” will appear on your GPS map — your very own Halloween artwork!
