Okayama City, famously known as the “Land of Sunshine,” enjoys a mild climate and a rich samurai heritage as the former castle town of the Ukita and Ikeda clans. Surrounded by the serene Asahi River, the city beautifully balances centuries of culture with modern urban vitality. This 13km GPS art course invites you to sketch a magnificent bird, connecting Okayama’s iconic historical landmarks and vibrant arts districts.

The journey begins at the intersection in front of the Okayama Symphony Hall, passing near the Okayama Orient Museum, Okayama Jinja Shrine, and the Okayama Prefectural Museum of Art. Crossing toward the waterfront, the path guides you past Okayama Korakuen—one of Japan’s Three Great Gardens—alongside the Okayama Prefectural Museum and the Yumeji Art Museum. Heading south along the eastern bank of the Asahi River, you will cross Sakura Bridge and run west past Okayama University, Shikada Campus, Okayama City Hall, and the sleek Morinomachi Plaza. The trail then turns north past Okayamamirai Hall, Okayama City Museum, and Okayama Station, before leading east past the Hayashibara Museum of Art to the majestic Okayama Castle (Ujo Park). Crossing the river one last time completes the loop.
