🐦 Through Canal Parks and Alpine Views: A 15km Ptarmigan Loop in Toyama 🐦
Toyama City, backed by the majestic Tateyama Mountain Range and facing Toyama Bay, has long thrived as a famous medicine-producing hub and a progressive water-rich metropolis. At its heart lies Kansui Park, a beautifully restored canal basin originally built in the early Showa period to connect urban factories with the sea. This 15km GPS art course invites you to sketch a Ptarmigan, starting from Kansui Park and tracing a grand clockwise loop through the modern neighborhoods north of Toyama Station.
The journey begins past the Toyama Prefectural Museum of Art and Design, heading north along the scenic tree-lined banks of the Fugan Canal. Upon reaching the green lawns of Nakajima Park, the route turns toward Awajima Station on the iconic light rail line and heads south along Route 172. Approaching the futuristic northern gateway at Toyama Station, you will pass the lively YKK AP ARENA (Toyama City General Gymnasium). After looping back toward the canal park, the trail concludes near the industrial campus of Fujifilm Fuji Daiichi Factory, representing Toyama’s historic manufacturing heritage.
