🎃 Perfect for Halloween! Nigata’s “Ghost” GPS Art Course along the Shinano River 👻
A Halloween-themed GPS art course has appeared in the heart of Niigata City! Covering about 11km, this route lets you “draw” an adorable ghost while strolling along both banks of the Shinano River and exploring spots rich in history and culture.
The course begins at the Niigata Manga & Anime Information Center, a hub showcasing works of manga artists connected to Niigata and celebrating the city’s vibrant pop culture. From there, the route leads you to Honcho Chuo Market Street, a lively area long loved as the city’s kitchen, where fresh local ingredients and authentic Niigata flavors can be enjoyed.
Next, you’ll arrive at the historic Hakusan Shrine. This grand shrine has been a center of faith for Niigata citizens for centuries, hosting seasonal festivals and deeply rooted traditions. Continuing on, you’ll encounter Niigata City Performing Arts Center “Ryutopia,” a strikingly modern cultural facility where architecture and artistry blend beautifully with the surrounding scenery.
The Shinano River, Japan’s longest, is the lifeline and symbol of Niigata. Walking along its banks, you’ll experience the harmonious balance between nature and urban life that defines this waterfront city.
This GPS art course is more than just a seasonal walk—it’s a journey through Niigata’s history, culture, food, and nature, all woven together into a playful Halloween adventure. Why not celebrate the season by creating a “ghost” across the map of Niigata?
