🎃 Walk Through Gifu and Draw a Spooky “Ghost”! Perfect Halloween GPS Art 👻
This Halloween season, why not enjoy a one-of-a-kind walking experience in Gifu City? Introducing a 13km GPS art course where, step by step, you’ll create the outline of an adorable ghost on the map—a festive way to combine sightseeing with a dash of spooky fun!
The route begins at Meitetsu Gifu Station, the gateway to the city, and continues toward the administrative hub at Gifu City Hall. From there, walkers can explore the cultural landmarks of Gifu Media Cosmos, a modern center for knowledge and creativity, and the beloved Gifu City Cultural Center, a gathering place for arts and community life.
History and tradition also color this journey. The course passes Honganji Gifu Betsuin, a temple with deep historical roots, and several important Shinto shrines such as Kashimori Shrine, Kanō Shrine, and Mizohata Shrine, each tied to centuries of faith and local life. Among them, Kogane Shrine is especially popular, known as a deity of prosperity and good fortune.
Gifu City itself holds a unique place in Japanese history. Once renamed by Oda Nobunaga during the Warring States period, Gifu flourished as a political and cultural stronghold. Today, its streets blend the atmosphere of an old castle town with the vibrancy of a modern city, offering a fascinating backdrop for your Halloween adventure.
This autumn, take a stroll through Gifu and draw your very own ghost. It’s a playful, seasonal way to discover the city’s blend of tradition, culture, and festive spirit. Lace up your shoes and let the Halloween magic guide your steps! 🎃
